If you are someone that struggles with brain fog, fatigue, digestive troubles, or anxiety then it could be from having a toxic level of heavy metals in your system. This could be a good indicator that it may be time to naturally minimize your body’s heavy metal load by detoxing.
Benefits of lowering heavy metal load in your body
Almost everyone has heavy metals accumulating in their bodies whether it is from the foods they eat, the water they drink, environmental, products we use, maybe vaccines they’ve gotten, even the air we breathe. Lowering your heavy metal load will support not only your body’s systems but the cellular functions as well. Making these changes by naturally detoxing with often result in an increased energy level, better sleep quality, smoother digestion, weight loss, clearer skin, and lower inflammation in the body. Lowering heavy metals in the body will also lower free radicals which in turn can improve your gut health. This would also mean that you would have a stronger immune system. Furthermore, your mental abilities will likely sharpen as well. How about that? Doing one thing can cause a whole trickle effect of great things to happen as a result.
To support your body though the process it is best to detox slowly and to do it gradually. If you are ready to detox and are seeking a low-intensity approach to support your overall health and wellness then here are four ways to natually lower the heavy metal load in your body.
Eat the right foods
What you put into your mouth matters, but what you don’t put in your mouth matters as well. You wantto try to avoid eating processed foods. Your body will need extra hydration to flush out the toxins you release so lower your caffeine intake and also steer clear of drinks that have a lot of sugar in them. Instead try to drink eight ounces of water or vegetable juice every two hours.
There are plenty of foods that are detox friendly. Given that pesticides play a big role in heavy metal toxicity try to choose organic foods whenever you can. Leafy greens like kale, swiss chard, spinach, parsley, cilantro, and beet greens are great choices due to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Herbs and spices including basil, oregano, thyme, turmeric, and ginger, are also excellent. Foods that are high in vitamin C such as citrus fruits, berries, cruciferous veggies and bell peppers can help heal the damage that is caused by heavy metals.
Clean up your environment
It is difficult to purge your body of heavy metals. The best approach to long-term health is to avoid exposure whenever it is possible. What this means is starting at home and making nontoxic swaps. The first easy swap you can make is by removing any air fresheners and replacing them with essential oil diffusers. A second swap could be your personal care products. Get rid of your toxic make ups, soaps, deodorant, lotions, toothpaste, shampoos and things of that nature.
There are plenty of products out there that are safe to use. I even have some other articles with some suggestions on brands that are safe to use if you need some ideas and you want to check those out. The third swap you could do is laundry detergent. This is a big one and again, it is easy to do. You are in your clothes all day long and your skin is literally soaking in those toxins every minute of every day. And again, I have recommendations if you need some in another post.
Filling your space with safer, cleaner, and eco-friendly products is a strong step towards supporting good health. Who wouldn’t want to take that step, right? If this all seems overwhelming, the swaps don’t need to all be done at once either. Take it slow and do one at a time. The products are a little more expensive than the toxic chemical filled stuff, but believe me they are worth every penny when it comes to your health and wellbeing.
Work it off
While eating the correct foods will encourage your body to let go of heavy metals you must still flush out the accumulated toxins. Regular exercise is great way to sweat them out and all the while reducing body fat. Why do I mention body fat do you ask? I mention it because many heavy metals are stored in fat cells.
Sweat it out
You can enjoy the same detoxing benefits with an infrared sauna. However, you want to be sure that you shower immediately afterwards so that the toxins that you sweat out are not reabsorbed back into your body through your skin.
Your body will thank you for taking these steps to reduce its heavy metal load and restore homeostasis. If this sounds like a lot of work to you that’s because being healthy usually is. That’s why we have so many people in our country and in our world with chronic diseases. They do not take care of their health. It is work and it is a big change to make if you are not used to doing these things. However, these changes are worth it and are very positive changes to have in your life and you will feel so much better after making them you will have wish you had done them
