Skincare products are not all made equal. Most items on the market today have a dictionary-length list of harmful and questionable substances linked to them. If you need with learning what they are then visit my post of ingredients to avoid in face wash here.
The issue? You may not always be aware of these items or how to stay away from them. Also, you won’t get much assistance in this area from most companies or regulatory organizations like the FDA.
Why is this?
In the US, there is essentially no government oversight of the cosmetics industry. The US has only banned 11 chemicals, compared to the EU’s over 1,300.
On top of that, cosmetic products in the US can go straight from manufacturing to store shelves without any approval or safety testing. The FDA lacks the authority to order a recall even in cases when there is a complaint.
Christina Moss Naturals
Christina Moss Naturals Facial Wash is rich, nutritious and will clean, nourish, and feed your skin with clean and pure ingredients, including extracts and essential oils, leaving it very healthy. It is an excellent product for ALL skin types, especially those with sensitive skin. This product is concentrated so their 4oz bottle is equivalent to their 8oz of other products. So a little goes a long way. When reading through the reviews people were saying how much longer this lasts than typical face wash of the same size and even larger sizes. It gently lathers and rinses clean with skin soothing ingredients, without leaving build-up, stripping, drying, or clogging your skin and pores.
Again, when reading through the reviews there were so many people that were saying how much they loved this face wash that I decided to give this one a try myself. So far, my acne has improved so we will see if it stays that way. I also ordered the toner and the moisturizer as well. And I love how they make my skin feel!
Earthley
Earthley’s bar facial cleanser comes in two options. One is for oily/acne-prone skin, and the other is for dry/sensitive skin. You can enjoy gently and effectively cleansing your face with natural ingredients without stripping your skin of its natural oils which is always a great thing! If you go this route, you will see that it is a little easier on the pocketbook as far as price goes.
Oily/Acne Prone Skin
For their oily/acne-prone skin, they’ve got their Charcoal Facial Bar. It’s deeply nourishing, with mango butter and coconut milk, but it’s also deeply cleansing, with activated charcoal. The combination removes oils quickly and easily, leaving your skin totally clean!
For Dry/ Sensitive Skin
For their dry/sensitive skin, they’ve got their 3-in-1 bar. This all-natural facial cleanser has jojoba and pumpkin seed oils to help gently cleanse skin without removing beneficial oils. It’s a great option if the charcoal bar is just a little drying for you.

Carina Organics
Carina Organics face wash does not have a scent. Its ingredients look good and are clean, so this is another good option. My family uses the shampoo and conditioner and there are no complaints. We all love them! This one is a bit more on the pricey side compared to some of the others. However, I have found that going to all natural products in general is more expensive than the normal store brought chemical products, but they tend to also last longer as they are more concentrated, and you only need a small amount.
Arata Face Wash
Arata Face Wash is formulated with exfoliating beads of apricot seed powder and organic flax seeds. They say these are extremely gentle on your skin and great for daily use. Arata states that their face wash helps to prevent excess sebum and oil build up which will ensure oil control. This product is quite affordable. It comes in an entire line of products such as lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I did not add those products to my lists though however, because they contain FRAGRANCE on the ingredients list. It is listed as “safe fragrances”, but still, who knows what that means exactly. So, I will leave that up to each individual if they feel comfortable using those products or not. Other than that, the rest of the ingredients look clean.
Kosmatology
Kosmatology’s Rose Geranium foaming face wash for dry and anti-aging skin supports mature skin. It does so with a blend of essential oils that give free radicals (elements in our environment that breakdown cells) a one-two punch. Rose-Geranium will tighten skin and reduce large pores. It also offers antioxidant protection, prevents degeneration of cells, promotes cell renewal and proper blood circulation. All of these effects will help delay wrinkles and give your skin a more youthful look. Carrot Seed oil nourishes, tightens, rejuvenates and can help soften wrinkles.
Kosmatology’s Lemongrass Organic foaming face wash is for acne and rosacea prone skin. It contains Rosemary which helps keep pores clear. It has Lemongrass which is a natural toner and helps close pores. And it also has Lavender which helps regulate the amount of sebum our skin produces.
Dr. Jacobs Naturals
Dr. Jacobs Naturals Pure Castile Soap is gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin because it contains only 100% natural ingredients. Their famous all-purpose formula now has a 2x thicker viscosity. Aloe Vera and sea salts were added to give the ultimate natural, moisturizing wash for your face, and body. Since their Premium body wash is made with natural oils it can also be used as a shampoo, shaving lather, laundry and even as a household cleaner.
There you have it!
Another one down. I hope this list helps you and your skin! I know I am desperately hoping for results with the natural products. As I haven’t been having good luck with the chemical crap lately. I have been using the same thing for years and lately it just hasn’t been doing its thing. However, now that I am on this journey to become nontoxic and making these swaps, I am nervous about the results. But hey what do I have to lose when my face already looks like a teenager. I thought acne was supposed to get better as you got older? What gives?! Anyways, like I said at the beginning of this post, the Christina Moss face wash so far is great and I love how it feels so we shall see if it stays that way.
If you didn’t find one on this list that you want to try and want to look for something else on your own, but don’t know what to look for, you can reference my list of ingredients to avoid if you would like some help.
